Flower Power

May 18th, 2008

George, Aliza, Ilke, Kristyn head to
Catamount Family Center to ride in the season opener! For several years, Catamount's head race organizer, Eric Bowker, has put on the early season race in mid-May.
The weather is
always a gamble in May in the Northeast, but we got lucky with 60's, large cotton ball clouds and a slight breeze. George raced the 4 lap on his Soma Juice 29'r...singlespeed, Kristyn did the 3 lap on the same bike with gears. Aliza and Ilke chased each other for 4 laps, Aliza on her Titanium stead, a Moots, and Ilke on her....I'm not sure what it is, but she's shopping for a new one!
Everyone enjoyed the stre
ss and excitement that a little race offers and produced results that gave each a base line for the weekly Wednesday night races soon to start at Catamount!

George: Muddy Moose!

"I got a chance to wear the running T last weekend at a trail race in Wolfeboro, NH called the Muddy moose. 14 miles of wet, muddy snowmobile and 4x4 trails up a Mountain and back. I came in third, and had a lot of fun. The uni got some attention, as a lot of people from VT were wondering what it was."

Later, George!

Thank You SMITH!!

Smith Optics hooks the members of Green Mt. Ambassadors up!

Matt Monbouquette pulls it all together with the Smith East Coast rep, Chad, to get us all a pair of shades. Most of us chose a cycling specific glass, but some went with pure style! The classic Hudson takes the cake for style while the V-Ti chalks up the most votes for men's performance glass and the Theory will rock on with the ladies!

Introducing....

Green Mountain Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine
Ambassadorship

This is our inaugural year and we want to thank all of our members for making it happen. This idea is the brain child of Matthew Monbouquette. He came to us hoping we would support his desire to ride with some other local cyclists participating in any & in some cases all of the 3 major cycling disciplines; road, mountain & cyclocross. We jumped at the opportunity to support these local athletes and to have them represent our clinic not only based on their dedication to the sport, but also the fact they are good people.

We are psyched that we have such a diverse group of people representing our small clinic. As we see it, each member's only obligation is to race in our kits and race smart. And, also say "Hey, looking good!" when other Ambassadors are present at a race.

Some hopes and dreams for the Ambassadorship are to...

...raise money for a local charity, if each of us raise $200-$500 then we can donate $2200-$5500. A pretty cool donation for an awesome cause, but more on this later.

...ride together on a weekly basis, possibly Tuesday Mornings @6AM, only if you can make it, but more on this later.

...participate in some if not all of these local races,
Catamount Race Series (Tuesday-Run, we are a main sponsor, Wednesday-mtb)
Tour de Cure (American Diabetes Fundraiser)
Race the Rez (Xterra at our local playground, Indian Brook, Essex)
Tour de Valley (Underhill Mt. Bike tour)
and more!!!
